Living plastic free isn’t easy, and for many of us, there are just some items wrapped in plastic that we cannot live without or sometimes, just cannot resist. Obviously, we’d rather avoid buying products in plastic packaging altogether, but when that’s not possible, many items (not currently accepted in kerbside collections) can now be recycled, thanks to Terracycle.
There are now several Terracycle points in Bradford and the surrounding area and more are popping up all the time. We’ll try to keep this list regularly updated, but please check the Terracycle website for more information – click on the recycling scheme you’re interested in and scroll down to the map.
So far in Bradford-on-Avon we have…
Crisp packets (any brand) – there is a collection point just inside the Co-op next to the town bridge. There’s also one at Bearfield Church.
Contact lenses and packaging – the collection point is inside Carter & Harding opticians in the Shambles.
Baby food pouches (andy brand) + Ella’s Kitchen snack wrappers – these can be recycled at the Youth Centre off the Frome Road, next to Fitzmaurice school.
Toothbrush and dental care items – Dutch Barton Dental Surgery on Church Street and the Dental Practice in the Station car park.
Pet food pouches – the nearest point is at Clearwood cattery in Westbury.
We are also in discussion with Sainsburys to see if they can house some more points. They currently have battery and water filter cartridge recycling at the main entrance.
Sainsburys also have two plastic bag recycling points in their car park. The following items can go in these:
Breakfast cereal liners
Shrink wrap and joiners from multipacks of water or cans
Frozen food bags
Dry cleaning bags
Magazine and newspaper wrappers
Fruit & veg bags
Old inflatables – send them to Wyatt & Jack who will turn them into something new!
Please get in touch if you know of any other Terracycle points nearby and we can add them to our list.
