To be awarded Plastic Free Community status, we had to achieve the following:
- Half of community spaces to be single-use plastic free. These can include churches, the library, the West Barn etc.
- One third of the schools in the area to be supporting the campaign. But we’re only a small town – let’s make it all three!
- At least one community organisation supporting our campaign – this could be Girl Guiding, the Scouts etc
Community action is the pathway to success for Plastic Free Communities. Ensuring as many people as possible are aware of the campaign and issue of single-use plastics, offers the best chance for change, reducing the amount of plastic pollution in our environment.
Can you help?
If you run or are part of a community organisation in Bradford-on-Avon and would like to reduce single-use plastics, please get in touch. Although we have achieved plastic-free community status there is much more to do.
